Process-1: Single wire process

If you don’t have a connector, then any type of wire will do the work. After collecting the wire, all you have to do is put one side of the wire in one hole of the relay port and the other one in another whole. This will complete the bypass process.
Process-2: The substitutional process
To perform this process, you will need the following pieces of equipment:
- 12 V DC 120 amp 4pin
- 40/30 AMP 5 pin SPDT 12 V DC bosch switches
- 80/60 AMP waterproof relay
- Four pins 40/30 AMP 12 VDC harness

- Step:1- open the relay section and notice the spring. The spring will not be open in contact as your car is off.
- Step:2- now you have to make moveable contact in the spring. To do this work, you have to energize the coil of your car. When you have the moveable contact, pull in the spring to let the current flow. Thus you can set the other contact as well.
- Step:3- by this time, when the relay coil is still not entirely energized, you will notice a pathway that is being used for the current to flow. Now that the current flow has started, you have to replace or substitute a fan in the place of the fuel pump. You will have to wear a jumper on two pins ( #87 and #30), located at the automatic shutdown relay. And your work is done!
What does ASD relay do?
Most of the modern vehicles in today’s world have electronic engine’s. This includes refined fuel and ignition in the car. The ASD is one of these components. The main job of a man ASD relay is to supply 12-volt power towards the injectors and ignition coils.
The volt produced from an ASD relay allows the injectors and ignition coils to serve fuel and create a spark to run the vehicle. Although an ASD relay’s standard function is to supply volts, they can give power to your car’s oxygen sensor heater circuit.
It also works as an automatically operated shutdown switch, which allows the fuel and also the ignition system to turn off. So, if the ASD relay shuts down or gets damaged, your car will get turned off automatically.
How do you test an ASD relay?
ASD relay is known as an Automatic shutdown relay. This relay supplies switched 12- volt power. The power helps the injectors & ignition coils to give fuel & produce a spark to the vehicle.
Many of us want to know how to test ASD relay; Ohmmeter is the main machine to test an ASD relay. The relay of the vehicle should be removed first. Then the ohmmeter can check the resistance power. This meter can check the resistance between the terminals to see whether the resistance is 75 ohms 5 ohms.
At first, the ohmmeter should be connected between 30 & 87A terminals. In this way, the meter will show continuation between these terminals. Then the meter should be connected between 86 & 30 terminals. But in this process, the meter will not show the continuity between these terminals.
One side of the jumper wire(16 gauge or similar wire) should be connected to relay terminal 85 now & connect another side of the wire to the 12-volt power source’s ground side. Another jumper wire’s one end should be connected to the power side of the 12-volt source & at this time, do not combine the other end of the jumper to the relay.
There is another way to test the ASD relay, and you should attach the jumper wire’s other end to terminal 86 of the relay. In this way, the relay will be activated. Then the meter should show the continuation between terminals 87 & 30 of the relay.
But the continuity between 87A & 30 should not be shown in this way. There is a warning too. Please do not let the meter contact terminals 85 or 86 the test meanwhile. During the test, if the meter contacts these terminals, then the meter could be poorly damaged.
In the end, disconnect the wires. You should replace the cables if it does not show the proper results, the continuity & the resistance test. If the relay passes these tests, then it operates flawlessly. There is a reminder of ASD & fuel pump relay circuits. This reminder should be checked from time to time.
The ASD relay could be tested with a test light too. To do that, at the first turn the ignition switch on to power up the exact circuit which you have to try. In this process, the relay can be checked with some wire. If the wire of the relay connects to the component with the test light & if it glows, then the relay is working.
The ohmmeter can test the power of the relay to see the continuity between the terminals. If those show continuity, then you have to replace the relay.
What causes a relay to go bad?

- Hot switching inductive loads: While showing a signal, the relay can be opened or closed. This process is called a hot switching relay. These types of relays can be very hot rather than the other switches. It makes the relays very hot & affects the life of a relay.
- Inrush currents: While connected to a low impedance with a high one can cause a substantial current source. This high surge current may affect relay life.

- Hot switching capacitive loads: In between the terminals of a relay switching systems are generally capacitive. If a matrix of switching has a massive number of closures on a single Y-axis to X connections, the capacitance can produce an extra load. This load affects relay life during hot switching.
- Degradation of contacts: The relay of a vehicle contacts with many mechanical failures. The failure can be done by contact wear, coil damage, or either an activation mechanism failure. This type of degradation of various contacts can damage the relay.
